I want to create a beauty pageant for the women who are in Prelinger movies.

I'd love to hear your votes, please include the title of the film so I can check it out.

Thanks.

Oooh, this topic just came up in my house when I was watching some of this stuff. I hate to admit that I've always had it for Anne who goes out with Woody in "What to do on a Date" (I might be off on the exact title, but it is one of the more well known films in the collection). I'm sort of a sucker for her smile and how much she seems to want their date go well - I wish my high school dates had gone as pleasantly.

Lord, I can't believe that I'm admitting to this! :)

That would be 'Dating: Do's And Don'ts'.

My choice is easy.. GUARDIANA!! She's a babe! Multi-talented too!

Oh, she's in 'Safety: Harm Hides at Home' and 'Safety: In Danger Out of Doors'.

I'm going to keep this thread alive one more day with my contribution to this most important topic. This may be unfair to the amateur and semi-pro actresses refernced in other posts, but I would vote for Susan Hayward (A Letter From Bataan) and Barbara Britton (Freedom Comes High). Both Hollywood pinup girls from the WW II era.

The women in the Prelinger lacked the benefit of top class photographers, lighting technicians and make-up experts. If these had been available, many of the pretty girls would now be considered B eautiful Women"..

Interesting topic. I'll bite. I always thought Phyllis from Sid Davis' "The Terrible Truth" is kinda cute.
I haven't really found any truly beautiful women in the films on this site, because I got the impression that the makers of the educational films wanted more average looking people, so the audience could relate to them more.

Without a doubt, I vote for the actress who portrays Mrs. Agnes Carvel in "The Story of Enterprise":

She even ages during the film (through makeup of course), and is absolutely gorgeous at any age.

There's a rigidly-coiffed brunette woman in the classic CARVING MAGIC who's attractive in an evil, suburban, ball-busting 1950s kind of way. She humiliates her husband in front of dinner guest Harvey Korman. Link:

And of course, there's this parade of lovely Prelinger ladies:

Oh, I get it. FP means Frank Panucci!

By the way, we're all in your debt, Frank, for finding the stripper films that the rest of us missed. Thank you.

Does this mean that the women (all four of us) who frequent the Archives should have our own pageant to choose the Most Beautiful Man of Prelinger? Hmm. . . . . that Dapper Dan in "Design for Living" is kind of cute, but he's got money problems. And does he do chores? It will be hard to find any man in the Archives who can compete against the formidable "Roll-Oh."

In "Give Yourself The Green Light" there's a woman in a convertible in a traffic jam who is quite cute. Oh, this pageant is just silly.
